Anambra State Commissioner for Housing, Honourable Pauly Onyeka has restated the state government commitment to ensure that Ndi Anambra get value for their money.
The Commissioner stated this during an inspection visit to Security Base Camp, Isuofia as well as Ekwulobia and Enugwu Ukwu General Hospitals project sites.
At the Security Base Camp, Isuofia, the Commissioner noted that structurally, the contractor has done well but was visibly angry at the quality of finishing on the project and instructed the contractor to expedite actions in the correction of observed defects and ensure that he works according to specifications or be ready to lose the job.
Speaking at the Ekwulobia General Hospital, Commissioner Onyeka who noted that though the project is not yet completed expressed satisfaction with the quality of work done so far but pointed out some areas that needed to be touched before the completion of the job.
At the Enugwu Ukwu General Hospital, the Commissioner said he was impressed with the level and quality of job done by the contractor and commended him for working in according to contract specifications.
He reiterated Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s vision of making Ekwulobia, Enugwu Ukwu and Umueri General Hospitals referral Centers for other hospitals across the state.
According to the Commissioner, whereas building infrastructure is phase one component of hospital upgrading, the second phase of the upgrading comprise technological and equipment component.
Responding, the Chief Medical Director of Enugwu Ukwu General Hospital, Dr Frank Ifeaneme commended the Governor for the intervention and promised that they will maintain and take good care of the hospital.
Representatives of contractors handling the projects Engineers Wisdom Ugoala and Prince Emeka Akukwe for Ekwulobia and Enugwu Ukwu General Hospitals respectively thanked the government for finding them worthy and promised to work according to specifications and deliver on time.
The Commissioner was accompanied to the visit by some top government officials and officers from the Ministry.
