Onitsha Ado n’idu has celebrated its Azu Ofala Festival which is the second phase of the 2023 Ofala Onitsha Festival in a grand style.

 

The celebration which featured all the age grades in Onitsha was held at Imeobi Awka Road Onitsha

Staff reporter in Emengini Osadebe who covered the event reports that it was also sponsored by the first indigenous telecommunication network Limited.

 

The Azu Ofala Festival was a carnival of a sort as these age grades danced and paid homage to their King, Igwe Achebe.

These age grades which were divided into four categories were made to compete among themselves as they danced and showcase their expertise to the admiration of the people.

 

After the competition, Anyibuofu and Officer age grades clinched the first position in the first category while Ndioma age grade came first in the second category.

 

Others that came first were Udogadi age grade of category three and Aniamaka age grade of category 4 respectively.

Speaking to the ABS in an interview the Senator Representing Anambra Central described Igwe Alfred Achebe as a well-known traditional ruler throughout the world who has done well in every aspect of his life adding that he is also a force to reckon with in terms of leadership in this country and prayed for God’s blessings upon him and his subjects.

 

others who spoke to the ABS include the state commissioner for Youth Honorable Patrick Aghamba and former member representing Onitsha North one constituency in the State House of Assembly Honorable Chugbo Enwezor who are both Onitsha indigenes applauded their monarch for his outstanding contributions and achievements since he ascended the throne of the ancient kingdom, especially in the area of human capital development prayed for long life and more wisdom upon their King.

Highpoint was the dancing round the arena by various groups as well as Royal dance of Egwuota by Ndichie Onitsha.
