It has become the tradition of Globacom Limited to host a Royal Banquet in honor of Obi of Onitsha Igwe Alfred Achebe after a successful Ofala Festival.

 

This year’s Ofala Royal Banquet was held at Golden City event center GRA Onitsha.

The Royal Banquet reports that it attracted various groups and Age grades representatives that participated in the 2023 Ofala Onitsha Festival.

 

The Royal Banquet provided Globacom Limited the opportunity to appreciate Igwe Achebe and his subjects for the privilege given them to sponsor the Ofala annually.

In his opening speech the Globacom South-South and South East Retail Chief, Mr Augustus Ndu-Ofor, congratulated Igwe Achebe and his cabinet on a successful outing notlming that Ofala Onitsha is getting better every year.

 

Mr Ndu-ofor who stated that Globacom is dignified and delighted to be associated with Ofala Onitsha Festival stated that Globacom as a brand has remained committed to projecting the Rich Cultural Heritage of Nigerians.

The Obi of Onitsha Igwe Achebe appreciated Globalcom Limited for their continued support which according to him has lasted for ten years now.

 

The Royal father thanked all that graced and made the celebration successful and prayed that the partnership between the ancient kingdom and Globacom Limited will continue to be beneficial to both parties.

The chairman Ofala Onitsha Planning Committee, Chief Mike Areh, thanked Globacom Limited and other sponsors of the event for keeping faith with the festival saying that the Ofala Onitsha Festival planning committee will work hard to tackle the challenges experienced during the event to make 2024 Ofala Onitsha better.

 

Speaking to the ABS, one of the guests at the banquet, Pharmacist Uche Apakama, described Ofala Onitsha as a big cultural event in the south east adding that Onitsha is now in the world map as a town that celebrates her monarch.

Also speaking a popular Musician in Onitsha, Ikem Mazeli, expressed gratitude to God for the successful outing which according to him is a period when the obi of Onitsha present himself to his subjects after his seclusion from people adding that it also provides the Igwe the opportunity to thank God for a successful Iwaji of some clans in his town who have eaten the new yam without been hurt.

 

Highpoint of the event was presentation of cash prizes to those age grades that won the competition during the Azu Ofala Festival while comedy show and music display added colour to the event.
