Tomorrow, Saturday September 16, 2023, all roads will lead to Saint Luke’s Anglican Church, Okpoko, off Onitsha-Owerri road by Enamel junction for the climax of activities lined up to mark the golden jubilee anniversary of the Anglican Bishop of Ogbaru Diocese, His Lordship, the Right Reverend Prosper Afamefuna Amah, J.P.

 

The ceremony which will be preceded by a special church service at 10 am will be chaired by Sir Rob Anwatu, the CEO of Roban Stores while Igwe Kenneth Orizi the third of Nnewi will be the Royal father of the day. Others expected at the event are Mr Humphrey Ngonadi, the CEO of Ngobros Nigeria Limited and Sir Alexander Chika Okafor, the CEO of Chikason Group as fathers of the day.

 

Senator Ifeanyi Ubah who represents Anambra South Senatorial District at the National Assembly and the Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Somtochukwu Udeze are expected as Special Guests of Honour while Chief Ebere Uzozie is the guest of honour. The major highpoint of the fiftieth birthday anniversary celebration of Bishop Amah according to the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Reverend Ndubuisi Uzo is the official presentation of the book titled “Living a victorious Christian life in a challenging world: Biblical perspective” authored by Bishop Amah. The proceeds from the launch will be channeled to the building of Christ the King Chapel Episcopal Court, Ogbaru.

 

The Bishop and his family will also thank God for His mercies and blessings. So, friends, well wishers, lovers of God’s work and public spirited individuals are invited to the epoch making event.

 

Born on September 15, 1973 into the family of late Mr. Clifford Amah and Mrs. Gladys Amah of Akaboezem Uruagu, Nnewi, Bishop Amah, who is the second Bishop of Nnewi extraction, attended the Akaboezem Primary School, Uruagu, Nnewi and Christ the King College (CKC) Onitsha from 1988 to 1992.

 

He was ordained a deacon in the year 2000, made a priest a year after, preferred a canon in 2007 and became an Archdeacon in 2008. Bishop Amah holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka; a Masters Degree in Peace and Conflict Resolution and other post graduate and advanced certificates in Theology.

 

 

 

Bishop Amah served as Chaplain of EFAC, Diocese of Nnewi and later Ihiala, Administrative Secretary, Diocese of Ihiala, Chaplain, Director of Clergy School and Chairman, Bishop’s Examining Chaplain. He headed many other committees, administrative and evangelical unit in the Dioceses of Nnewi and Ihiala. Bishop Amah attended many synods and ordinations as guest preacher and retreatant.

 

DUNAMIS as he is popularly called, Bishop Amah has contributed immensely to the growth of evangelism in the Church of Nigeria. He was elected Bishop of Ogbaru Diocese on Tuesday third April, 2018 at the Episcopal Synod held at the Cathedral Church of Saint Matthew, Benin city, Diocese of Benin. He was consecrated Bishop on Saturday June 3, 2018 at All Saints Cathedral, Onitsha and enthroned as the second Bishop of Ogbaru Diocese on July 28, 2018 at the Basilica of Saint James the Great Cathedral, Atani.

 

As a man filled with the spirit of God and committed to the service of God and humanity, Bishop Amah introduced many programmes in Ogbaru Diocese aimed at winning souls for Christ. They include the popular monthly fresh oil programme which holds at Saint James Church, Odekpe every first Saturday of the month, One Night Miracle Crusade, monthly clergy workshop and youth empowerment programme. He also introduced the Bishop Amah football tournament for the youths in the Diocese which has help them grow spiritually while engaging in an entertaining sporting activity. Prizes are also given to winners of the junior and senior categories of the tournament. There is also the Esther generation annual camping programme for women and girls, band competition for members of the Girls and Boys brigade and a scholarship scheme for brilliant students from indigent homes.

 

Bishop Amah is an author of many books including Loose him and let him go. He is happily married to Dr Uche, an educationist and they are blessed with children.

 

So, as Right Reverend Prosper Amah celebrates his golden jubilee today, the people should not only support his ministry, but wish him more fruitful years ahead.
