The Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Somtochukwu Udeze, said that Anglican Communion Worldwide has lost one of its outstanding Prelates, the late Most Reverend Maxwell Anikwenwa.

 

Speaking at the Cathedral Church of Saint Faith, Awka, during a burial service for the late Most Reverend Anikwenwa, Right Honourable Udeze, described him as a religious Iroko, who gave his best for the service of God and humanity as well as the sanctity of his Archiepiscopacy in Nigeria and beyond.

 

The Speaker, who recounted some of the landmark achievements of the late Archbishop Anikwenwa, to include the establishment of the famous Paul University Awka, planting of many churches and archdeaconries as well as effective evangelism, commended him, especially for his leading roles in the overall growth and development of the Anglican Communion.

 

He enjoined other priests to emulate the late Archbishop Anikwenwa’s virtues such as his truthfulness, dedication and boldness by remaining good shepherd to their congregations.

 

Right Honourable Udeze, while commiserating with the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion and the late Archbishop Anikwenwa’s family, maintained that his life and times as former Bishop of Awka Diocese, Archbishop of Province two and Niger Province as well as Dean, Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, recorded a lot of testimonies of a true man of God.
