Governor Chukwuma Soludo has placed a ban on all meetings of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT, Anambra State Wing, with effect from six o’clock in the evening of Wednesday, twenty-first June, 2023.
According to a press statement signed by the commissioner for Education, Professor Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, the action of the government is predicated on the need to avoid breakdown of Law and Order in the state.
The statement further explained that the ban was placed following the show of shame exhibited by members of the union during their state wing executive committee meeting, held at the Teachers’ House, on Tuesday, sixth June, 2023.
It noted that the ban remains in force pending the settlement of the internal wranglings bedeviling the union by its national body.
