Anambra state Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Honourable Pauly Onyeka has called on Quantity Surveyors in the state to apply best judgement in contracts estimation.

 

 

 

Honourable Onyeka made the call when the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors Anambra state Chapter paid him an advocacy visit in his office in Awka.

 

 

 

Housing correspondent Njideka Okoye reports that Commissioner Onyeka reminded them that not applying best judgement in quantifying jobs before they are being awarded, causes a serious problem for the state, noting that the issue of over estimation is not to be experienced in Anambra state.

 

 

 

The Housing and Urban Development Commissioner while explaining what he found out when he looked into a lot of files from the past government, stated that it is no longer business as usual in Anambra state as the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo is a solution government that intends to achieve much with little because the country is experiencing economic hardship and there is no remittance any longer.

 

 

 

Honourable Onyeka who said that Quantity Surveyors are important in the building, construction and infrastructural development industry as their job is very crucial, advised them to look into the situation of the country and carry their job diligently for the development of the state and for the good of all.

 

 

 

Earlier, the leader of the delegation and Chairman Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors Anambra state Chapter, Mr. Chiedu Maduekeh who thanked the Commissioner for welcoming them noted that their profession is concerned with financial probity in the conceptualization, planning and execution of construction projects.

 

 

 

Mr. Maduekeh said that Quantity Surveyors are indispensable sustainable development partners that ensure value for money spent, thereby reducing wastages and ensuring that every penny is accounted for, to make money available for other future developments and promised to apply best judgement in quantifying jobs as well as support governments developmental policy.

 

 

 

The group made a presentation to the Commissioner.
