The Anambra State Government has approved the setting up of a caretaker committee to run the affairs of Agbudu town union for the next three months.

This followed the failure of the Agbudu Town Union election on 2nd January, 2021 due to upheaval caused by irregularities, as well as the need to avoid vacuum in Agbudu Town Union.

The composition of the Caretaker Committee is as follows:

Mr. Kevin Okoli (Chairman), Chief Igwebuike Jude (Secretary), pastor Emeka Ezani (member), Mr. Nwafor Cletus (member), Mr. Mmaduka Samson (member).

Others are Mr. Paul Onwubiko(member), Mr. Nnaemeka Okliemezu (member),

Mr. Peter Osunkwo (member) and Emmanuel Okolimba (member).

According to a release signed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Barrister Veraqueen Okonkwo, the terms of reference of the Caretaker Committee include, to reconcile the different factions in the community, restore the spirit of oneness in the community, put in place, a structure that will ensure and sustain a peaceful co-existence in the community and to prepare grounds and to conduct a credible Agbudu Town Union election to be supervised by the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and community Affairs.

The release said the committee has tenure of three months with effect from 17th March, 2021 to expire on 17th June, 2021 except otherwise extended by the government.
