A Seven Man Delegation from Universal Basic Education Commission Abuja led by Prof Bashir Galadanchi has arrived Anambra State on inspection visit to the ongoing construction of the Federal governments Universal Basic Education Commission Zonal Model School at Isiagu, Awka South Local government area.

The delegation which includes Korean technical team led by Korean International Cooperation Agency Country Director, Mr. Woochan Chang, is to see the extent of work done so far at the UBEC Zonal Model School Isiagu.

Education Correspondent, Theophilus Ukoha reports  that receiving the delegation the Secretary to the state government Prof. Solo Chukwulobelu  said Anambra State government is highly pleased to be one of the seven States of the federation that is benefiting from the model two category of the federal government UBEC Zonal Model School and expressed optimism that Governor Willie Obiano through the ministry of Basic Education will ensure that the school takes off in earnest.

While thanking the Korean technical team for their readiness to provide the school with State-of -the -art ICT infrastructure, equipment and software, Prof. Chukwulobelu assured the delegation of the State government’s willingness to key into the ICT driven form of education

The UBEC representative, Prof Galadanchi in a remark said the Commission is out to ensure that most schools in the country follow the international ICT driven standard of education and expects the state government to replicate the model as provided by UBEC.

He however noted that the Model Two  category of the zonal school that is being constructed in the state will house primary and junior secondary schools which Universal Basic Education Commission will continue to give basic necessary support.

On his part, the Country Director, Korean International Cooperation Agency Mr. Woo Chan Chang said their agency will develop and deliver appropriate educational content, using ICT infrastructure to ensure the development and deployment of competent teaching staff and experienced school leadership, who will effectively manage the school.

The Commissioner for Basic Education Prof Kate Omenugha , said the state government through her ministry has gone so far in ensuring that teachers in the state are ICT compliant, adding that the human resources which will fit into the project will not be a problem to the state.

Thanking the delegation, the Chairman Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board, Chief Patrick Ugboaja said ASUBEB is very much ready to acquire the school on completion, promising to ensure that whatever standard laid will be maintained.
