The Executive Secretary, Anambra State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Chioma Ezenyimulu has confirmed that Anambra State has received the Oxford-Astrazeneca COVID-19 vaccines.

 

Dr. Ezenyimulu said that the state received seventy-eight thousand, eight hundred and ten doses of the vaccines last night in Awka.

 

She disclosed this during the ABS TV flagship programme, Good Morning Anambra.

 

According to her, the vaccines are safe and Governor Willie Obiano will flag off the vaccination today.

 

She also explained that the vaccines will be stored from two to eight degrees celsius and all the local government areas storage capacities are well equipped with solar direct drives to ensure that challenges of epileptic power supply are taken care off.

 

Dr. Ezenyimulu further said that in this first stage, frontline health workers and major political holders will be inoculated, followed by people aged between fifty years and above, with priority to people from sixty years and above before those between fifty years.

 

The Executive Secretary revealed the next stage will be for people from eighteen to fifty years who have peculiar health challenges before the rest of the population will be vaccinated.
