Governor Willie Obiano has charged religious leaders to be focused in their role of redirecting the society to the path of moral rectitude.

The Governor spoke during the ongoing Church of Nigeria Standing Committee Meeting at All Saint’s Cathedral, Onitsha.

The Meeting which attracted all the Anglican Archbishops, Bishops, Clerical Synod Secretaries, Chancellors of various Dioceses and women delegates from across the country was a moment during which the church leaders deliberated on some salient issues bordering the church and the society as well proffer solutions to the challenges.

Governor Obiano who was represented by his Deputy, Dr Nkem Okeke while describing church as a viable tool for societal change, asked the leaders of the church to use their high positions to correct the ever increasing errors in the society especially moral decadence.

Governor Obiano assured that his administration will continue to assist and partner religious bodies in the State for continuous development of the State.

In his address, the Archbishop Metropolitan and Primate of All Nigeria, Most Reverend Henry Ndukuba charged Religious Leaders to be united and always uphold the doctrine of the church and to strive to restore sanity and integrity to the society.

Most Reverend Ndukuba urged the federal government to strengthen the security network of the country, to ensure the safety of life and property across Nigeria.

Earlier in an address, the Archbishop Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger and Anglican Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim commended Anambra State government for all its assistance to the church, and promised that the church will continue to do its best to reciprocate the gesture.

The Chief Judge of Anambra State, Justice Onochie Anyachebelu, former Governors Peter Obi, Dame Virgy Etiaba, among others were present at the event.
