Anambra State Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project, in conjunction with its National Coordination Office has commenced a three-day Value Chain Profiling and Analysis.

The event is taking place at the ADP complex in Awka.

Queen Anigbogu reports that before the commencement of the event, the federal government team accompanied by some officials from the State ministry of Agriculture paid courtesy calls on Director Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development as well as the Anambra state Commissioner for Agriculture.

In her remarks, the team leader from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture Abuja, Mrs. Eucharia Ezeudegbunam, said they are in Anambra state to profile the state chosen Value Chain which is Pig-Beef-Poultry as well as have an interface with producers and the off-takers.

Mrs. Ezeudegbunam added that the programme is for enhancement of value chain performance and also to find out if the producers are using world best practices in their production.

She revealed that Anambra is privileged to be among the first twelve states selected for the pilot programme because she fulfilled all the necessary obligations.
Also speaking, the Director, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Arthur Mbuba, described the project as very laudable.

The Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr. Nnamdi Onukwuba, explained that the group will learn a lot in the profiling and analysis that they came to do in the State.
The Overseeing Officer, Ministry of Economic Planning, Mr. Arthur Iweanya and Director Animal Production, Mr. Christopher Umezulike, said Governor Willie Obiano has good intentions to request for such a programme noting that Ndi Anambra will benefit immensely from it.

In their separate contributions, some of the Livestock farmers, including Mrs. Georgina Akunyiuba and Prince Obidi Udegbunam, highlighted some of the challenges they are facing in livestock production and appealed to the state government to ensure that all agro support grants from the Federal government and other sources get to the real farmers in Anambra State.
