Governor Willie Obiano has commiserated with the Asoanya family of Umuoji in Idemili North Local Government Area over the death of Chief Francis Nwafor Asoanya.


The Governor spoke at a burial Mass at the Holy Family Catholic Church, Umuoji which was celebrated by the Archbishop and Metropolitan of Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province, Most Reverend Valerian Okeke.


Government House Correspondent, Ejike Abana reports that Late Chief Francis Asoanya, a knight of Saint Mulumba, was the father of the Transition Committee Chairman of Onitsha South Local Government Area, Chief Emeka Asoanya.

Governor Obiano, while describing death as inevitable for all mortals, enjoined the Asoanya family to emulate the life of their late patriarch, as testified by many.
The Governor who conveyed the sympathy of Anambra State government to the family, asked them to bear the loss with fortitude.


In a homily, Reverend Father John Anosike reminded Christians that they are not better than those who have already died, saying that everyone is alive by the Grace of God.


Reverend Father Anosike who urged Christians to bear in mind that death will come one day, stressed that living an examined life remains the ultimate and route to heaven.


Speaking on behalf of the family, Chief Emeka Asoanya appreciated those who identified with them in their moment of grief, expressing the hope that their late father is in a better place.


Governor Obiano also visited and commiserated with the family of the Late Ezinne Theresa Amailo Okonkwo, mother of the former State accountant General, Mrs. Ngozi Okonkwo at Umudim, Nnewi, as well as the family of the late Mrs. Pauline Ifeyinwa Chuke in Onitsha.

The Speaker Anambra State House of Assembly, Right Honorable Uche Okafor, was among other dignitaries that attended the ceremony.
