The people of Owerre-Ezukala in Orumba South Local Government Area
have celebrated the 2020 new yam festival, amidst rousing ovation for
the Ikenga SUV car Governor Willie Obiano presented to Anambra State
Traditional Rulers, including Igwe Timothy Ogbonnaya of the community.

The annual event, held at Ishishi Ancestral home, attracted the
presence of Traditional Rulers from neighboring Communities political
appointees, and the clergy, including the Parish Priest of Saint
Patrick’s Catholic Church, Owerre-Ezukala, Reverend Father Joachin
Ezeani.

Correspondent Joseph Egbeocha report that while 
performing the Iwa Ji ceremony , Igwe Ogbonnaya, prayed for peace and
progress in Owerre-Ezukala, Anambra State, and the nation at large,
describing the festival as a unifying factor across Igbo land.  

He commended the Obiano administration for the recent car gift to
Traditional Rulers, expressing delight that through the gesture and
more in the past, Governor Obiano has practically encouraged INNOSON
Motors, a local vehicle manufacturing industry.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Local Government
Liaison, Chief Raymond Onyegu, President-General of Owerre-Ezukala
Development Union, Sir Anayo Emejue and Chairman of the new yam
festival Panning committee, Mr Uche Chukwuagolum, commended Governor Obiano, the “Obataobie” of Owerre-Ezukala, for giving the community a sense of belonging in the affairs of his administration, praying for sustained peace in the Community.   

Others, including the Special Assistant to the Governor on Community
Liaison, Chief Ogechukwu Nduche, his Basic education counterpart,
Comrade Basil Nwosu, Special Assistant to the Speaker of Anambra State
House of Assembly on Media and Publicity, Mr. Emma Mmadu, as well as
Chief Sunday Nnebe, joined in thanking Igwe Ogbonnaya for his
stewardship, and the State Government for giving the Community a sense
of belonging through infrastructural projects and political
appointments.
