Chisco Group of Companies, a key player in the nation’s transport and other sectors, has donated the sum of ten million naira to assist Anambra State Government in its fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

Presenting a cheque for the amount on behalf of the Chairman/ Managing Director of Chisco Group, Chief Chidi Anyaegbu, the Eastern Zonal Coordinator of the company, Hon. Uche Ochuba said the gesture was part of the Company’s corporate social responsibility , and in response to the State Government’s call for assistance in preventing the spread of the virus in the state, and cushioning the effects of the pandemic.

The President-General of Amichi Development Union, Mr. Dan Ugomba, who accompanied Hon. Ochuba in presenting the cheque, called on Ndi Anambra to support the government’s efforts in addressing the challenges arising from the pandemic, expressing satisfaction with proactive steps taken by the Anambra State Government in the wake of the pandemic, especially in establishing and equipping Coronavirus Protection Centres across the State.

Receiving the cheque, the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, thanked Chief Anyaegbu and Chisco Group of Companies for assisting Government in championing the interest of Ndi-Anambra at this critical moment.

He reminded Ndi Anambra of the message by His Excellency, Governor Willie Obiano when he addressed Ndi Anambra on the 2nd of April, 2020. His Excellency had urged Ndi Anambra to see the threat of Coronavirus as the greatest threat to us all as one people under God. He also urged Ndi Anambra to come together as one and shut out the coronavirus pandemic from Anambra State saying that we can do it if we truly come together.

Governor Obiano had quoted American auto icon, Henry Ford who said; “coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress but working together is success.”

Concluding, Professor Chukwulobelu thanked Chief Anyaegbu and others who have so far donated money and medical supplies to the state government and called for more donations from Ndi Anambra.

Present during the presentation were the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Vincent Okpala, as well as the Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer of the ABS, Chief Uche Nworah.
