It was a poetic afternoon in Awka, Anambra State capital city, as poetry lovers, critics and theatergoers assembled for the public presentation of the much-anticipated anthology, “dispossessed”.

“dispossessed” is a non-fictional collection of poems that resonates deep reflection of innocence, transgression and atonement.

The anthology is written by Mr. James Ezeh, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Willie Obiano.

The seventy-one poem, three-tiered book also shines spotlight on nature and love.
The Chairman on the occasion, Engineer Johnbosco Onunkwo, in his opening remark, said that “dispossessed” is a book born out of deep research to celebrate human values, education and history and re-writing in a vivid manner a better narrative for today’s and tomorrow’s generations.

Speaking about the book, the former Senator for Anambra Central, Chief Victor Umeh, said that the verses and lines of poems which mostly examine love, portrays the heart of the poet as someone who treasures love and recreates the world around him.

The book reviewer, a renowned columnist and former Special Adviser on Media to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Dr Reuben Abati, who read from the lines of the poems, said that the anthology reflects Eze’s major step to self-discovery and noted that the title of the collection showcases the poet’s belief in hope and re-awakening embedded in sound craft and poetic voice.

Giving a bio-critical appraisal of the book, Professor Nduka Otiono of Carlton University, Canada, who had shared newsroom with the author in one of Nigeria’s dailies, said the book was one of the most engaging publications he had read of an emerging writer with its lines conveying universal messages of tragedy, tribulations and truth.
