Justice Ijem Onwuamaegbu has been sworn in as the Substantive Chief Judge of Anambra State.


The ceremony was performed during the State Executive Council Meeting at the Government House, Awka.


Justice  Onwuamaegbu is the first female Chief Judge of Anambra State.


Governor Obiano stressed that his administration is gender sensitive in appointments and  noted that  Justice Onwuamaegbu has distinguished herself in the legal profession, and tasked her to
discharge her duty without fear or favor.

The Governor assured that he will continue to work closely with her to ensure smooth justice delivery in the State, and explained that the State is working to procure modern equipments for the  Judiciary to accelerate quick  and seamless dispensation of justice.


The Governor also said that the State is working to condense Anambra State laws into E-copy format for easy access. 


While expressing gratitude to the State government for deeming herfit for the appointment, Justice Onwuamaegbu,  assured  that Judges in the State will continue to work in harmony with the Governor. 


Earlier, the Chief Registrar,  Mrs Chinyere Ossy-Okoye stressed that the appointment  is well deserved  as she met all constitutional conditions, noting  that she was duly recommended by the National Judicial Council and confirmed by Anambra State House of Assembly. 


Members of the State Executive Council and Members of the State Judicial Council witnessed the   event.
