The Anambra State Police Command in collaboration with other sister agencies in the state have successfully rescued two Catholic priests kidnapped on the 24th of this month.

The victims, Reverend Father Peter Nwachukwu, Parish Priest of St Theresa’s Parish Umueze-Anam and his assistant, Reverend Father Cajetan Apeh are now in stable condition and have since been reunited with their families.

The Police special team, comprising SARS, PMF, Counter terrorism, Special Anti Cults unit in conjunction with other sister agencies and the vigilante group mounted an intensive search and rescue operations for the priests since the incident took place and with the aid of a modern technology and aerial surveillance due to difficult terrain, the abductors were forced to abandon their victims .

Consequently, effort is being intensified to apprehend perpetrators to bring them to Justice.

In a release signed by the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Haruna Mohammed, the Commissioner of Police, CP Garba Umar reassured Ndi Anambra of their safety during the yuletide period and beyond.

CP Umar further warned all criminal elements that Anambra is not a place to operate as they will surely meet their waterloo and be dealt with decisively in accordance with the Law.
