The Anambra State Library Service has extended its holiday skill acquisition progamme to students and pupils of Adazi- Nnukwu Community, Anaocha Council Area.

The Summer Camp programme which attracted students, pupils, librarians among others within the community, was held at Community Library Adazi Nnukwu.

The Acting Director, Anambra State Library Services, Miss Nkechi Udeze explained that the programme was aimed at sensitizing students on the importance of cultivating good reading culture and also expose them to various skills that will make them self reliant, especially this holiday period.

 

Miss Udeze advised them to uphold decency and discipline in order to be good leaders and access library always to expand their knowledge, warning them against engaging in unruly activities, even as she thanked the people of the community for donating numerous books to the state Library.

 

The Chairman Community Library Adazi Nnukwu, Chief Ejike Okafor-Etika, while handing over three hundred books which were donated by individuals in the community to the State Library, for use by students statewide, commended State Library Service for organising the camp in their community.

 

One of the Authors of the books donated, who is also the Zonal Director Anambra state Agric Development Programme and Aguata Zonal Extension Officer, Mr Livinus Nnebedum encouraged the participants to read wide especially this holiday period to be great leaders in future.

 

On her part, the Public Relations Officer, Anambra state Library Board, Mrs Obianuju Onu, commended the participants for their effective participation and called on them to embrace reading and channel the knowledge garnered at the workshop to proper use.
The training featured expositions on hat and bag making, tie and die, collage by staff of the Library Service as well as donation of books by the community.
