The Commissioner For Youths Entrepreneurship and Creative Economy, Mr. Bonaventure Enemali, says youths are the integral and indispensable part of every society.

Commissioner Enemali was speaking at the Awka South APGA Youth Political and Security Summit held in Awka.

 

The summit which has its theme as “Youths Political Participation in Anambra State, “attracted youths from the local government areas and beyond, political office holders, security officials, government functionaries, stakeholders among others.

 

Addressing the summit, Mr. Enemali said that the “Not Too Young To Run Bill” which was recently signed into law by President Mohammadu Buhari, has legally provided political leadership space for the youths to showcase their competency in piloting the affairs of the nation.

 

Commissioner Enemali who said that the current administration in the state have provided adequate opportunities for the state’s youths to showcase their talents, skills and potentials, appealed to youths to do away with drug abuse, cultism, political thuggery among others and described the summit as apt and timely.

 

According to the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Chief Victor Oye, represented by the Transition Committee Chairman of Awka South Local Government Area, Mr. Leo Nwuba, the youths must be actively involved in politics by preparing themselves physically and mentally, even as he urged them to ensure that they obtain their permanent voters card in order to exercise their franchise during the 2019 general elections.

 

According to the Special Assistant to the Governor on Youths Mobilization, Comrade Ossy Onuko who is equally one of the conveners of the summit, the exercise was among other things designed to educate the youths on the contemporary happenings in their localities, intimate them on what they need to know in political participation as well as address the issue of cultism that has bedevilled the Awka city recently.

 

An APGA Stalwart From Awka North Council Area, Mr. Godwin Ezenagu, the Director of News and Current Affairs of the Anambra Broadcasting Service, Mr. Gab Okpaleze, were among those that attended the summit.

 

Lecture was delivered by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Development and Digital Entrepreneur, Mr. Ifeanyi Aniagoh, while the highlights of the summit was award presentations to some individuals who have distinguished themselves in building the youths as well as rendered selfless service to humanity.
