State Govt Committed To Promoting Igbo Culture - Onuorah


The Anambra State Government is working out modalities for the development of culture and tourism sector as part of measures to re-awakening the Igbo Culture and Tradition.

The State Commissioner for Culture, Tourism and Diaspora Affairs, Mrs. Stella Onuorah, disclosed this when she appeared as guest on ISSUES, an ABS audience radio phone-in programme.
The Commissioner said the ministry was working tirelessly to invite tourists to come and invest in the state.
Mrs. Onuorah further said a Memorandum of Understanding, M.O.U, will soon be signed between the government and a private company for the building of gigantic hotel at Agulu Lake to make it an attractive tourist destination.
Referring to the success recorded by some developed countries like Israel, a country she said was built by the citizens living abroad, Mrs Onuorah called on Ndi Anambra in the diaspora to come and invest in the state adding that the state was very much interest in medical and eco-tourism.
Another guest on the programme who in the Acting Director of Tourism Department, Mr. Emma Umeokana, described tourism as life and said the ministry is working hard to make Anambra, a tourism destination in the country in the next three years.
Callers on the progrmame including Mr. Umueri from Anambra East, Francisca Obiano from Nibo among others, commended the efforts by the state government in reviving the Igbo Culture and the progress it has made in developing the tourism sector.
