The Anambra State chapter of Ohanaeze Ndigbo has elected a seventeen man executive council to pilot the affairs of the socio-cultural organization for the next four years.
The organization’s former National Treasurer and one time ASATU President, Chief Damian Okeke-Ogene, was unanimously elected President while Dr Jude Okolo, was elected as Vice Chairman.
In a post-election speech, Chief Okeke-Ogene, paid glowing tribute to Governor Willie Obiano whom he said, made the election rancor-free.
Chief Okeke-Ogene pledged to work hard to uplift the State Ohanaeze through mutual cooperation with other socio-cultural groups as well as the state government.
In a speech, the leader of the electoral body, General Joe Achuzia, described the election as the best among the seven states where elections were conducted and enjoined the newly elected executive to work hard to take the socio-cultural body to higher grounds.
All the seventeen officers were elected unopposed.
