Governor Willie Obiano’s clarion call on Ndi Anambra in the diaspora to key into his think-home philosophy by investing in the state, is yielding dividends as an indigenous retail outlet the ROBAN stores has opened for business in Awka.
The departmental stores which was commissioned yesterday by Governor Obiano, attracted top government functionaries, the clergy as well as people from all walks of life.
In his remark, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the ROBAN stores, Sir Robert Anwatu, disclosed that the enabling environment provided by the state government attracted him to invest in the state.
Sir Robert who is an indigene of Nnewi, noted that ROBAN stores, which began in Enugu, has over the years provided customers with essential services, adding that the stores are open for all social classes with goods sold at reasonable prices.
He called on government at all levels to support indigenous firms stressing the need for Nigerians to patronize indigenous firms and give them the needed recognition for them to thrive.
In her remarks, the Commissioner for Trade, Commerce, Market and Wealth Creation, Mrs Amaka Ilobi, thanked Governor Obiano for providing the enabling environment for Ndi Anambra in the diaspora to come home and invest and commended Sir Robert Anwatu for keying into the think home philosophy of the state government.
While advising other indigenous investors to toe the path of the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ROBAN stores by investing in the state, Mrs Ilobi said that the state government had also provided structure to support different businesses.
Also commenting, the State Head of service, Mr Harry Uduh, noted that the opening of ROBAN stores in Awka is an indication that Governor Obiano is working and Ndi Anambra are heeding to his call for them to think home adding that the store is an expectation come true.
In his remarks, the Anglican Bishop of Awka Diocese, Right Reverend Alexander Ibezim, said the era of going to Enugu to shop has stopped with the opening of ROBAN stores in Awka and prayed God to bless the business.
