Today is world wildlife day.
World wild life day reminds the society of the urgent need to step up fight against wildlife crime, which has wide- ranging environmental and social impacts.
The secretariat of the convention on international trade in Endangered species of world fauna and flora, in collaboration with other relevant United Nations organization facilitates the implementation of world wild life day.
The theme for this year wildlife day is “listening to the young voices’ which implies engaging and empowering the youth as well as giving them a new opportunity to them to be able to tackle conservative issues.
The most alarming challenges faced by wild life today include poaching, habitat loss, climate change and trafficking of wildlife among others.
Speaking to the ABS on the significance of the day, the founder centre of psyche and healing administration, Chief Dr Mrs Flora Ilonzo said she has passion for wild animals which made her adopt and rear wild animals as pets, explaining that some are medicinal in nature and hates poaching them because of the value it contributes to the ecological and sustainable human development.
She cautioned people who engage in poaching wild animal to desist from it to ensure survival of wildlife in its natural habitats which according to her must be imparted from generation to generation.   UP SOT
