Anambra State Government says it has boosted socio economic activities of the state and reduced road accidents to the barest minimum through “operation light up Anambra “project.

 

The Commissioner for Public Utilities, Engineer Emeka Ezenwanne disclosed this when the Anambra State House of Assembly committee on Public Utilities embarked on oversight function at the Ministry.

 

House of Assembly Correspondent, Chukwuemeka Modilim was there and  reports that Engineer Ezenwanne who identified “operation light up Anambra” as the most outstanding project of the Obiano administration, informed the committee that the installation of street Lights in major cities of the State, such as Awka, Nnewi, Onitsha and other communities has strengthened security, leading to influx of investments into Anambra State.

The Commissioner said in view of the megre resources of the state occasioned by COVID-19 pandemic, the state government has laid emphasis on delivering sustainable water facility to the underserved communities in the state.

 

He expressed satisfaction that the Obizi and Otuocha Water Schemes which have been completed with the placement of management structures around them have solved the problem of water scarcity that hitherto bedeviled the communities around them, as the Obiano administration is still making investments in the area of water to cover a lot of areas.

 

In his remarks, the Chairman, House Committee on Public Utilities, Honourable Emma Nwafor explained that the essence of the visit was to ascertain the projects accomplished by the Ministry with their 2020 budget.

 

The committee however commended the Ministry for distributing transformers to parts of the state in accordance with specifications and for documenting their activities in line with the law
