The South East Zone of Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers Union of Nigeria, RATTAWU, have held its Gala and Award night as parts of activities marking its South East Zonal conference held in Awka.
Members of the Union from the five South East states, gathered for the event, which is an avenue for members to wine, dine and feel at ease after its zonal conference. Kenechukwu Chukwudi reports that  the National President of RATTAWU, Dr. Kabir Tsanni, noted that the South East zone of the union is performing creditably, even at the national level and commended its leadership for piloting the affairs of the union progressively.
In his speech, the National Vice President South East Zone of the union, Prince Emeka Kalu assured that the union is ever ready to keep growing, by keeping itself abreast on unionism and labour issues and by also organising workshops and trainings for members, while upholding discipline and good conduct .
In a lecture titled “Broadcast Media, Culture and The New Normal” , Chief Uche Nworah, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Anambra Broadcasting Service, explained that technology has altered the way things are done positively, which was manifested during the period of Coronavirus pandemic lock down, when many media practitioners had to work from home, as technology bridged the gap and ensured that things were done without physical presence.
Chief Nworah explained that ABS is using technology to remain at the fore front of broadcasting and urged media practitioners to cue in and adapt to new technology in their work.
In an interview, Comrade Tina Ekenta, the Anambra state Council Secretary of RATTAWU said the Gala Night was for members to merry and enjoy themselves after a fruitful zonal conference and assuring that the union will keep playing its roles to ensure excellence in broadcasting.
Some of the award recipients include former Governor of Imo state, Senator Rochas Okorocha, the Commissioner of Police Anambra State, Mr. John Abang, Chief Austin Oguejiofor of Rotech Group and host of others.
 Cultural dances and music performances added glamour to the event.
