The World Bank, under its Community and Social Development Project has approved fifteen micro projects for six vulnerable groups across the participating council areas of Anambra state.


The members of the Vulnerable Groups Management Committee and Sub-committee members converged on Awka for a two-day training on the requisite knowledge and skills needed for the implementation of their GDPs.


The vulnerable groups are Chidindu from Amorka community in Ihiala Local Government Area, Chibike from Owelle and Ofuobi from Inoma communities both in Anambra West Local Government Area.


Others are, Udo na Oganiru from Owere Ezukala, Obinwanne from Ufuma and Obinwanne from Ndiokolo communities.


Declaring the training open, the General Manager, Anambra state Community and Social Development Agency, Mr. Chudi Mojekwu announced that they are presently intervening in about fifty communities across the participating council areas with quality completed and ongoing micro projects.


Mr. Mojekwu, who told them that the project will wind-up in June this year, asked them to ensure that all projects are completed before the rain sets in.


He disclosed that the training was specifically designed to nurture them on how to implement the micro projects in their Group Development Plans and sustain it.


The Operations Manager, Mrs. Uche Nwizugbo, while noting that they had already inspected the micro project sites, charged them to take full ownership on completion.


She also encouraged them to avail members of their groups the opportunity of winning contracts during the process of executing the micro projects.


In a vote of thanks, the chairperson, Obinwanne Vulnerable Group, Ndiokolo, Orumba North Local Government Area, Mrs. Irene Kanu expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the World Bank and Anambra State government for remembering them.


Paper presentations, came from the Finance and Admin Manager, Mr.
Francis Madubuonu, Project Internal Auditor, Mrs. Stella Amaduche and the Project officer, Monitoring and Evaluation, Mr. Uche Egbunike.


Some of the participants, including the chairman, Chibike vulnerable group Owelle, Anambra West council area, Mr. Gabriel Omachei and the chairman, Chidindu vulnerable group Amorka, Ihiala Local Government Area applauded the project.
