The pedestrian bridge at MCC junction Onitsha will soon be reopened for use.

Anambra state Commissioner for Works, Engineer Marcel Ifejieofor stated this when he inspected pace of work on the bridge.

At the site, the sides of the beams which shifted from their base have been put back to place, while men of the Julius Berger construction firm handling the project were seen tightening the beams on the pillars.

Speaking after inspecting the bridge, Engineer Ifejiofor said that the bridge is now ready for use.

The Commissioner for Works Engineer Ifejiofor alongside the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Barrister Emeka Ohuoha and other directors in the ministry took a testing tour along the bridge .

Engineer Ifejiofor said that the bridge will be reopened to the public by next week as he said that it has been fixed in such a way that it cannot be shifted again.

He restated the need for drivers of articulated vehicles to load their vehicles according to approved standard.

Some pedestrians messrs, Simon Okafor, Hycinth Okpe and Chizoba Adirika expressed happiness that work on the bridge is almost completed, appreciating Governor Obiano for his prompt intervention .
