The United Kingdom, UK, is seeking to deepen relationship with Nigeria as part of efforts in assisting Africa’s development.
This was made known when a delegation of the British High Commission paid a visit to the state Deputy Governor, Dr. Nkem Okeke at the Government House Awka, as part of their familiarization tour to Anambra.
While speaking, the High Commissioner Permanent Representative to ECOWAS, Patriona Laing who led the team on the visit, said that Nigeria is one of the most important Nations to UK in the sub Saharan Africa, as according to her, many Nigerian study, work, and do businesses in United Kingdom, hence the need for strengthening of the relationship that exists between the two countries.
She disclosed that the team has in line with the familiarization visit to states in Nigeria, visited some states in the SouthEast geopolitical zone including Imo state, and will visit more.
Responding, Deputy Governor Okeke commended the team on the visit to the state, as well as their various assistance to Anambra as regards its development and the welfare of the citizenry, expressing hope for the advancement of the collaboration.
