The President of the World Football Governing Body, FIFA, Mr Gianni Infantino says the Peoples Republic of China will host the first edition of the new, expanded twenty-four-team Club World Cup in 2021 The announcement comes after a meeting of the FIFA Council in Shanghai, Peoples Republic of China.
The World Football Governing Body declared that it will change the tournament to a twenty-four-team format from 2021 which it said will take place between June and July.
Mr Infantino said the competition will feature eight teams from Europe, one from Peoples Republic of China, one from Oceania and three each from the other Confederations.
The President of FIFA also announced that the hosts for the 2030 World Cup will be chosen at a Congress in 2024.
