Ahead of the upcming general election, Governor Willie Obiano has reassured Ndi Anambra of his administration’s commitment towards sustaining its zero tolerance stance on Armed Robbery and Kidnapping in the State.
Governor Obiano stated this while briefing newsmen at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia, on the recent foiling of a kidnap attempt earlier this morning by Men of the Operation Kpochapu. Correspondent Kenechukwu Ofomah was at the briefing and brings details. The Governor who announced the major haul of the kidnappers suspected to be from a neighbouring state early this morning, said the gang had kidnapped the Victim, one Mr Jacob Uche at Limca Road, Nkpor, when the Police followed up on their trail and rounded them up at Eziowelle in Idemili North LGA. According to him, a gun-duel ensued which resulted in the killing of 5members of the kidnap gang and the capture of their ring leader, one Mr Arinze Onoje, with severe bullet wounds. He also revealed that the kidnap victim has been released. Governor Obiano emphasized that his administration on coming on board, had focussed on Security of lives and property as a prerequisite for sustainable development, smashing crime sydicates and destroying property acquired through armed robbery and kidnapping, noting that the state is now safe for the citizens and investors alike. Commending the courage and doggedness of Men of the Operation Kpochapu in the Crime-fighting initiative, Governor Obiano urged Ndi Anambra to go about their normal businesses without fear as his administration remains committed to ensuring their safety.
