Youths have been advised to embrace vocational education to acquire the necessary skills to become self reliant.
Speaking when some students paid him a courtesy call at the Government House, Awka, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Mobilization, Sir Tony Ezekwelu, said Governor is de-emphasizing white collar jobs and is resolute in training youth on practical skills to explore their talents to attain their full potential in life.
Sir Tony said Governor Obiano administration would continue to partner with vocational schools and the organized private sector to equip youths adequately with necessary skills in line with the policy thrust of the government on skill acquisition, entrepreneurial development and youth empowerment to expand the scope of employment.
He noted that entrepreneurs are principal actors that would drive the future of the economy, stressing that with the downward swing of the economy, small scale and medium enterprises are needed to give it a boost.
The Senior Special Assistant described Governor Obiano as the most Youth friendly Governor in the country and the first Governor to appoint over seventy youths in various political positions.  
Earlier, the leader of the group, Mr. Chinedu Nweji said the visit was to identify with the Governor’s Policy towards promoting vocational education and entrepreneurial development in the state.  Â
