Stakeholders in the state have hailed the decision of the Anambra State Library Board to organize three day summer camp programme for holidaying students and pupils as the programme ends at Umuezeawala Community, Ihiala Local Government Area.

The children, aged between five to seventeen years, mostly in Primary and Junior Secondary schools were all enthusiastic and eager to show off what they garnered in the three days programme as they took turns to explain to those present what they learnt.

 

The Acting Director of the State Library Board, Dr Nkechi Udeze, said it is her passion to have rural dwellers feel the impact of summer programme, adding that it is also reawakening reading culture among the young people.
She appreciated the Commissioner for Information, Mr. C Don Adinuba, and all stakeholders for giving them necessary support for the success of the programme.
The State Library boss urged parents to make their children available for such programmes, as the benefits are innumerable.

Also Speaking, one of the facilitators of the programme, Mr. Uchechukwu Ezeemo noted that the programme is not limited to Ihiala but has also been extended to different parts of the state.

She said apart from learning, it also exposes the children to different skills and leadership training and solicited for sponsorship and funding.
Some of the children who spoke to the ABS including Master Franklin Agu and Miss Ruth Owunaso said they learnt a lot from the programme noting that it was a dream come true for them and appreciated the organizers.
The programme which was tagged, “a Summer Arts, Readership, Promotion and Leadership Camp” featured exhibition of Arts works and summarization of books read.
