Restructuring has been described as the only panacea for ending pockets of unrests and agitations in different parts of the country.
This was the crux of yesterday’s one day summit organized by the Ohaneze Ndigbo at the Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square, in Awka.

The event attracted Ndigbo from the South-Eastern States, which include Anambra, Abia, Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo, and parts of Delta and Rivers State.
Speaking to the ABS, the National President of Anambra State Association of Town Unions, ASATU, Chief Alex Onukwue, who described the summit as apt maintained that restructuring will be beneficial to all tribes in Nigeria as it makes governance responsive to the needs and aspirations of the people.

On his part, the Traditional Ruler of Umuawulu in Awka South Local Government Area Igwe Joel Egwuonwu, urged the federal government to accept the idea of restructuring before the 2019 general elections, to put an end to social unrests in the country which according to him are caused by marginalization and unfair treatment of certain sections in the country.

For the President of the State Women’s Wing of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Lady Rose Ekwenibe, Ndigbo must come together and speak with one voice in order to actualize their collective goals.

Contributing, the Territorial Envoy of the Salvation Army, Dr. Levi Monanu, and a former President-General of Achalla Town Union, Dr. Charles Okadigbo, observed that if the country is restructured there would be equal rights and treatment of the citizens irrespective of tribe, religion or creed.

Highlights of the event were displays by some cultural groups including Nkpokiti group from Enugu state.
