To enhance national security and public confidence, the Nigeria Police Force has reactivated the issuance of Tinted Glass Permits nationwide through a newly upgraded digital platform — www.possap.gov.ng.

The Initiative, directed by the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, follows growing complaints over the harassment of motorists using factory-fitted tinted windows, and aims to introduce a transparent, accountable, and tech-driven process to regulate tinted glass usage, while curbing its exploitation by criminals.

With reports linking tinted vehicles to crimes like kidnapping, “one-chance” robberies, and armed attacks, the police said the digital system, which includes identity verification via NIN and TIN, biometric capture, and QR-coded permits, will strengthen investigative capacity and ensure only legitimate users are approved.

With a thirty-day grace period which starts May 1, 2025, after which enforcement will begin, the police authority warned that any officer found harassing or extorting motorists under the guise of enforcement will face strict disciplinary action, just as it urged Nigerians to embrace the user-friendly platform as part of efforts to build a safer, smarter and more secure nation.
