The Anambra State Police Command has confirmed the rescue and safe return of a kidnap victim at Umuege Village, Amawbia and has debriefed the victim for necessary action. 

According to a press release signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Tochukwu Ikenga, this  followed  a hot chase and strategic positioning of Police Operatives attached to the Central Police Station Awka, on the receipt of information about the abduction of the victim by 10.45 pm on 22nd April 2025. 

The release explained that this forced the criminals operating in an unmarked Sienna vehicle to abandon the victim at Umunya along Enugu-Onitsha Expressway and fled the scene.

To this end, the Commissioner of Police has directed a comprehensive investigation into the incident and further developments would be communicated accordingly.
