Most Reverend Professor Godfrey Onah of the Catholic Diocese of Nsukka says building moral code at infancy is crucial in the development of children.

In a chat with ABS in Port Harcourt, Bishop Onah cautioned parents to desist from giving in to the whims of their children at all times.
The Bishop, who is of the opinion that ninety per cent of the character of a child is derived from actions around the child at his formation stage, asked parents to monitor the kind of films their children watch and avoid exposing them to domestic violence, ritual killings and other social vices viewed on television,
Contributing, a medical practitioner, Professor Okey Ikpeze, who said that children develop intellectually, socially, emotionally and otherwise from birth to eighteen years, underscored the need for parents to monitor each stage of their children’s development, making love and care their watchword, stressing that each child has his unique personality.
Professor Ikpeze noted that at the development stage, a child begins to realize that he is different from others, and as such, begins to explore the uniqueness, especially by practicing what he sees, and warned parents against comparing any child to another as it may lead to unhealthy competition amongst siblings.
