The Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Education has charged Nnewi south local government Education Authority to be more dedicated to duty in
order to sustain the State’s impressive records in internal and external examinations.
The committee made the call when they visited the local Government Education Authority in Ukpor as part of their overview responsibilities.
The Committee which spoke through its Deputy Chairman, Dr. Timoty Ifedioramma emphasized that the purpose of their visit to the area was to arrest the factors inhibiting the progress of Education in public schools in the area, since education is the bed rock of any development.
The Committee warned teachers who seek for transfer outside the local government where they were employed to teach to retrace their steps as it is unhealthy to the education sector, assuring that State government will always provide all the learning facilities needed in nursery and primary schools .
In her speech, the Education Secretary of Nnewi South Local Government Area Education Authority, Mrs Victoria Okeke called for the posting of more teachers to primary and nursery schools in the area to meet the learning needs of the pupils.
Mrs Okeke also requested the committee to consider increasing her over head allocation to meet the demands of the local government education authority with result oriented strategies.
