Fifteen years after the dastardly murder of a former Chairman of the Onitsha branch of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Mr Barnabas Igwe and his pregnant wife,
Abigail, who was also a lawyer, a case has been made for the establishment of a Panel of Inquiry into the mystery surrounding the ugly incident.
Addressing a Press Conference in Awka, the United Anambra Youths Assembly, regretted that no inquest was established by previous and present Anambra State government since 2002 to thoroughly get to the root of the matter.
The Press Conference jointly addressed by the Vice President and Secretary-General of the Assembly, Messrs Ogochukwu Egolum and Chieloka Okoye, gave a twenty-one day ultimatum to the present Anambra State government to set up a Panel of Inquiry into the matter, and equally implored the Police, Department of the State Service and other relevant security agencies to launch an investigation into the heinous crime.
On why they are making this demand after fifteen years of the extra judicial killing, Messrs Egolum and Okoye maintained that time lapse was inconsequential as it affects getting to the root of the dastardly murder, pointing out that this would prevent recurrence of such crimes in future.
