Shouts of Halleluya were on the lips of christians as they sang ‘Christ is risen’ in all the churches visited; where they trooped out in joyous mood, thanking God for hope of new beginning.
In remark, the Archbishop, Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim, reminded Christians that resurrection of Jesus Christ restored hope and gave Christians power to overcome temptations.
At Saint Gabriel Catholic Church Okpuno, Reverend Father Fidelis Odunukwe, said that with the resurrection of Jesus Christ, Christians should crucify all their weakness, surrender all at the foot of the cross because Christ has buried all life challenges.
On his part, the Vicar Saint Paul’s Church, Umuokpu – Awka, Venerable Ifeanyi Umeh, said Christians are celebrating a living faith and their renewed salvation, adding that suffering they are encountering in life will not remain same; as Christ has given them hope of defeating sorrows and other forms of tribulations.
At the Salvation Army Church Igboukwu, the Chairman, Christian Council of Nigeria, South East Zone, and the Territorial Envoy, Nigeria Territory of the Salvation Army Church, Dr Levi Monanu, said the resurrection of Jesus Christ is a reminder of God’s love for humanity and the sacrifice He made for the salvation of mankind, adding that the season symbolizes hope, redemption and triumph of life over death.
