It was a huge relief and dream come true for the people living in Akuzor village Nkpor and 3-3 Nkwelle community; as construction work commences on the Akuzor road that links Oze in Nkwelle and bursts at Omeife area which connects 3-3 road.
When ABS news crew visited the area to monitor pace of work, it was observed that heavy earth work is going on at the Akuzor road axis, while a bridge that will link the road to Oze is being constructed over the Nkisi River.
The Foreman of Kanubeen Construction Company; the firm handling the project, Mr John Udonsi, said the long stretch of road, which is more than eight kilometers, is at stone base from the Omeife axis, and that they are working round the clock to see that the stone base is completed before the rain sets in, adding that the company was mobilized adequately for the road project which will be delivered soon according to specifications.
Some residents of Akuzor Nkpor who spoke to the ABS, including Onyekachukwu Ezeeme and Tochukwu Eliaku, recalled that for decades they had begged for the road to be constructed to aid smooth vehicular movement in the community and to end perennial traffic gridlock at the 3-3 axis to no avail, and thanked Governor Chukwuma Soludo for awarding the road, saying that developers have been rushing to the area since the road construction started.
