Behind every renaissance in a society, there is always a mastermind at work. Masterminds are purveyors of ideas, ideals, and idyllic gravitas to make change happen. Professor Chukwuma Soludo, is a mastermind bred in the crucible of intellect. He stormed through university with a first-class economics degree, grabbing departmental, faculty, and university prizes and crowned it with a Ph.D.
By thirty-eight, he was a Professor and his brilliance cut across the hallowed halls of Cambridge, Oxford, and Warwick, sharpened by fellowships at the Brookings Institution and the United Nations. He travelled across forty-five countries, leaving footprints in the sands of twenty-one financial giants like the World Bank, International Monitoring Fund and African Development Bank.
As Central Bank of Nigerian Governor, Professor Soludo revolutionized a whole sector. His banking consolidation tamed inflation to single digits, boosting the naira to one hundred and twelve naira before the global crash, and accumulated foreign reserves to a towering sixty-three billion dollars. London’s Financial Times and Euro-money acknowledged this thrice, naming him “Best Central Bank Governor” in 2005, 2006, and 2007. New Africa Magazine pegged him among Africa’s one hundred most influential in 2012, while six Nigerian papers honoured him as the “Man of the Year” in 2006 in unison, while the country also recognized him with the Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic, CFR honour, that year.
Before he became the Governor of Anambra State, Professor Soludo co-founded the Africa Finance Corporation, planting seeds for continental wealth. His resume is studded with one hundred and fifty-two awards, each a tribute to his numerous achievements. Since 2022, as Anambra’s Governor, he has orchestrated a state’s rebirth with his People’s Manifesto which he executed with the precision of a scholar and the wisdom of a visionary.
Governor Soludo is primed to transform Anambra from departure lounge to destination. The world once dubbed him “Mr. Transformation” for his financial wizardry; now, Anambra is saying “The Solution Is Here.”
He is an exemplar in progressive governance!
