With the passion to support community members and indigent people on the treatment of all kinds of eye defects, including surgeries, the Ezenwa family of Achina in Aguata Council Area has built and equipped an eye centre in memory of their late parent, Edmund and Irene Ezenwa.

Speaking at the event, the eldest son of the deceased couple, Engineer Okey Ezenwa, explained that the foundation, which has been in existence for about seventeen years, has been performing yearly healthcare outreach programmes and other philanthropic gestures, being a trait they inherited from their late parents, who out of the little they had, made it a duty to support others.

On her part, the daughter, Barrister Chinwe Ezenwa-Mba, said that the parents were role models to their children, especially in giving back to the society, noting that the modern eye centre and equipment therein cost over one hundred and twenty million naira.

President General of Achina Town Union, Mr. Anthony Ezenwaka, and an illustrious son of the community, Chief Emeka Ezenwa, explained that the Ezenwa family gesture is in line with the state government’s Public Private Community Partnership initiative in supporting infrastructural development in the state, saying that there are several other projects in the community amounting to three billion naira, which were built through community effort.
