Professor Chukwuma Soludo was sworn-in as the Governor of Anambra State on March, seventeen, 2022. From the outset the Governor with his Deputy, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, set a vision towards achieving sustainable economic growth, robust security, and transformational infrastructural development.
When Governor Soludo assumed office, eight local government areas, in Anambra South and Ogbaru Council Area in Anambra North, were under the control of non-state actors while other parts of the State were equally challenged by insecurity today with the enactment of Anambra State Home Land security Law, launching of Operation Udo Ga Achi and Agunechemba security network, Governor Soludo has restored effective security architecture across the State.
The judiciary has also undergone a digital transformation with solar power in thirty courtrooms, establishment of small claims courts, multi-door courthouses and Nigeria’s first Bureau of Missing Persons. Governor Soludo administration has awarded over seven hundred and thirty-nine point six-four-nine kilometers of quality roads interconnecting the entire local government areas of the state, with four hundred and twenty kilometres already completed with stone base and cement stabilization, as well as erosion-control measures.
The administration has also embarked on the construction of iconic infrastructure like the Ekwulobia flyover and dualization of strategic roads in various parts of the State as well as the introduction of a modern bus terminal, while the new Government House and Governor’s lodge projects will soon be completed.
Governor Soludo government has also restored clean and regular water supply to urban and rural populations after decades of non-functional projects.
To actualize his vision towards establishing Anambra as an agro-industrial powerhouse, the government has distributed over two point six million improved seedlings to one hundred and forty-two thousand households while revitalizing the Ifite-Ogwari irrigation system is contributing to year-round rice cultivation.
Anambra is emerging as a pharmaceutical hub, with the coming of the Oba Pharmaceutical Central Distribution Center.
Through the Anambra State Small Business Agency, entrepreneurs have received over one billion naira in support to expand their businesses, including the establishment of a digital shoe production factory in Ogbunike.
Soludo’s administration has prioritized Free and quality education in public schools and eight thousand one hundred and fifteen new teachers have been recruited.
One point four-two billion naira grants has been given to returned mission schools in the state and seven hundred million naira for mission tertiary institutions, totaling twenty-two billion naira. For the first time in the history of the state, schools owned by the Pentecostal churches also received government grants and funds.
In healthcare, one thousand medical professionals were recruited to address personnel shortages, while free antenatal care and delivery services has led to remarkable increase in the number of women delivering in public hospitals, with zero maternal mortality, making Anambra the second lowest under-five infant mortality rate after Lagos.
New general hospitals are being constructed in high-density populations, and existing facilities are being renovated and expanded into specialist centers.
Three hundred and twenty-six Primary Health centers are being equipped with essential facilities, while a Trauma Center is being built at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital.
The “One Youth, Two Skills” program is promoting entrepreneurship with five thousand young people trained and empowered in the first phase and additional eight thousand seven hundred youths are currently undergoing training.
The establishment of the Solution Innovation District aims to foster a hub for technology startups, while collaboration with institutions like Microsoft and Wootlab to train over twenty thousand youths impacted about eighty thousand young minds with tech driven initiatives.
Governor Soludo government has invested five hundred and seventy-two point seven billion naira achieving remarkable outcomes while spending sixty-five per cent of what prior administrations utilized in a single year.
With careful financial management, Governor Soludo has maintained a debt-free governance model, rejecting opportunities to borrow while, governance costs have been reduced by over eighty per cent.
The establishment of the Solution Fun City in Awka marks a transformative venture in elevating Anambra’s leisure and entertainment offerings.
For his outstanding contributions and achievements, Soludo has been honored with numerous awards, including Governor of the Year accolades and recognition for infrastructure development and fiscal responsibility.
