The Divisional Police Officer in charge of Awka Central Police Station, Mr. Godwin Mbah, has explained that security operatives cannot discharge their responsibilities well without support from the community they are policing, urging members of the public to always furnish them with useful information in order to tackle criminality.
Addressing Awka people at the palace of the Traditional Ruler of the community, Obi Gibson Nwosu, Mr. Mbah emphasized that synergy must exist between security operatives and community stakeholders in order to effectively tackle criminality, pointing out that “seeing something and saying something” is an effective strategy in crime fighting.
Responding, the Traditional Prime Minister of Awka, Chief Benjamin Okoye, and a stakeholder in the community, Chief Jonathan Nzekwe, explained that policing must be a job carried out responsibly and with integrity; in order to enable members of the public repose confidence in the security agencies.
