The final burial rite of the late Pa Alphonsus Okechukwu Udume, a retired Headmaster, who died at the age of 86 has been performed.

The late Pa Udume whose remains have since been buried in his country home, Ire village Umuoji, Idemili North Local government Area was the father of Oggorchukwu Oranu of the News and Current Affairs Department of Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS.

A holy mass which was held in his compound by St Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Umuoji was co-celebrated with a visiting Priest from Aguleri Diocese, Very Reverend Father Joseph Madubuoñu and the Parish Priest of the church, Reverend Father John Omuta.

In his homily, Father Madubuoñu stated that Christians are too materialistic these days, urging them to be satisfied and comfortable where God has placed them.

In their separate condolence messages a one time Managing Director of ABS, Sir Oseloka Offor, the Deputy Head of Station and Head of Commercial Services ABS Onitsha, Comrade Val Oguejiofor and Head of Programmes ABS Onitsha, Chief Osy Nwachili urged the Udume family to take solace in the Lord knowing that their father has gone to be with his maker and he left a good legacy for them to uphold.

His son-in-law, Honorable Iky Oranu and first Grand son, Master Chibike Oranu described Pa Udume as a peace loving man who was known for his love for God.

The children of the deceased, Mrs Ogochukwu Oranu, Mrs Ngozi Okeke, Mrs Amara Udechukwu and Mr Onyeka Udume described their father as a disciplinarian and a lover of God who taught them that prayers can change all situation as they promised to keep his legacy alive.

Condolence visits and masquerade displays added colour to the ceremony.
