Heeding the clarion call of Governor Chukwuma Soludo for affluent individuals to key into the private public community partnership Initiative of his administration in the development of Anambra State, a community leader and philanthropist in Ekwusigo local government area Chief Chigozie Anagwu, has constructed Eight hundred metres of road, mounted fourteen security gates and installed five hundred KVA transformer in Ozubulu.

 

According to Chief Anagwu, who spoke while conducting the Transition Committee Chairman of Ekwusigo local government area, Mr Chimezie Obi, around the facilities, the move was part of his contributions to the development of the community and charged people of the state to support the efforts of Governor Soludo in transforming Anambra.

Chief Anagwu described Governor Soludo as a committed and God-fearing leader who has restored people’s confidence in governance through his people-oriented Programmes and policies, and noted that the Governor deserves the support and cooperation of Ndi Anambra, as he is poised to improving the living standards of the people through road Infrastructure which he said will open up the hinterlands and boost businesses.

 

He restated that his motivation for initiating the road project and other facilities in Ozubulu was to improve the quality of life for the people in the area and urged the beneficiaries to continue to obey the laws guiding the state.

In a remark, the transition committee Chairman of Ekwusigo local government area Mr Obi who described Governor Soludo as a game changer, thanked Chief Anagwu for his support to the government through the construction of the road.

 

Mr Obi announced that henceforth, any individual that constructs some kilometers of road in the local government area will have a street named after him free of cost, and called on affluent Ndi Anambra to use their wealth in providing basic necessities of life for the people.

The TC Chairman disclosed that as part of motivating people for embarking on road constructions in the local government, the council has named five roads constructed by various individuals after them and called on others to emulate them.

 

The private-public partnership model of road constructions which started in Neni, Anambra State, has been widely praised as a successful example of how communities can come together to improve their infrastructure, as the model was first implemented by the late Dr. Anthony Enukeme, who funded the construction of eighteen kilometers of roads with proper asphalt in Neni.

Governor Soludo has encouraged other communities in Anambra State to emulate the model, and it has been replicated in Adazi-Ani by Chief Chinedu Mmadubuko, who funded the construction of fourteen kilometers of roads in his community among others.

 

Some members of Ekwusigo local government area transition committee members and critical stakeholders were present during the visit.
