The Anambra State Commissioner for Special Duties, Honourable Beverley Ikpeazu-Nkemdiche has mourned the victims of the Monday building collapse at Ọdụ Igbo, Ochanja market in Onitsha.

 

As at the time of this report, six persons have been officially confirmed dead while twenty other persons were rescued with various levels of injuries, according to officials of Anambra State Emergency Management Agency.

 

Rescue missions have continued at the scene of the unfortunate disaster.

 

Speaking to the press immediately after she joined Governor Chukwuma Soludo to visit the site of the collapse, Honourable Ikpeazu-Nkemdiche said the incident was unfortunate and regrettable; and assured that the state government will leave no stone unturned to prosecute anyone found culpable in the disaster.

 

She assured that the State Emergency Management Agency will partner other security and emergency management agencies to continue in the rescue operations to ensure that no one is left unrescued.
