For exposure to opportunities that abound in export business, fifty people, mostly youths and women, who are into agro-business are currently receiving ‘Export Support Training’ in Awka.

 

The training is courtesy of the Anambra State Government, through the office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth Empowerment Programme, in partnership with the Abuja Chamber of Commerce, Trade Facilitation Office, Trade Facilitation Office Canada, among others.

Among other things, the four-day training is expected to help the beneficiaries maximize profit by earning foreign exchange, and ensure business expansion that will help in job creation.

 

The Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Youth Empowerment Programme, Dr. Nelson Omenugha, who participated in the opening ceremony of the training, said that successful participants in the first phase of the programme will be selected for what he called ‘Canada expo’, and encouraged youths to take advantage of the opportunities that abound in agriculture.

He called for continued support to Governor Soludo led administration saying that more of such programmes are being packaged for Anambra youths, as the Governor is determined to equip youths with the right skills and offer them opportunity to export the skills for the purpose of expanding businesses and placing the state on the global map.

 

The President, Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Chief Emeka Obegolu, SAN represented by the Director of the Business Entrepreneurship Skills and Technology Centre of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dr. Tinuke Temitope, who said that African products are of high demand in the international market, explained that the programme is packaged to upscale and support Small and medium-sized enterprises in agro-value chain to meet demands in agro-processed foods in the international market, adding that after the “export readiness assessment”, interested participants will be helped to link with available markets for export.

Participants at the training, including, Mr. Rowland Ohazulike and Chidimma Oramali, commended the Soludo administration for the programme which they said has exposed them more on exportation, help businesses to expand and jobs created for the unemployed.
