A meter manufacturing factory has been commissioned at Oraifite community, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra state.

 

The Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Kashim Shettima commissioned the factory alongside Governor Chukwuma Soludo.

The meter manufacturing factory capable of producing one point four million meters annually, was constructed by Sir Emeka Offor, the Chairman Enugu Electricity Distribution Commission and the founder, Sir Emeka Offor Foundation.

Commissioning the factory, Senator Shettima thanked Sir Emeka, for bringing to an end issues of meter scarcity in the South East, and creating job opportunities.

Speaking at the event, the Chief of Staff to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Sir Ernest Ezeajughi, noted that the initiative is line with the second pillar of development of the Soludo administration, and will provide employment to complement efforts of Anambra State Government through the “One Youth Two Skills” initiative.

Also speaking, the benefactor, Sir Emeka, said the facility was to ensure that electricity consumers have access to quality services and value for their money.

 

He said he is particularly interested in helping humanity and government, as according to him steady electricity supply is strategic to ease of doing business, noting that the meter manufacturing factory will go a long way to ensure steady power supply in Anambra and South East at large.

On his part, the Chief Executive Officer, Advanced Energy Management Solutions Limited, Mr Okechukwu Onyejiuwa said they are out to bridge the gap in meter supply, which will help tackle challenges of estimated billing.

 

He said the factory will provide immediate employment for Ndi Oraifite and environs, as well as people of Anambra State and the South East by extension, adding that more than sixty percent of the meter components are sourced locally, which he said is an assurance that the factory will function seamlessly.

The Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Senator Victor Umeh, Senator Osita Izunaso, Deputy Speaker of House of Representatives, Honourable Benjamin Kalu, among others witnessed the event.
